The Achensee region is one of the most important cross-country skiing centers in Tyrol. More than 200 kilometers of trails offer unlimited cross-country skiing pleasure. From gently hilly routes along the lakeshore to the cross-country ski trails in the Karwendel valleys, there is something for everyone.
The trails for classic cross-country skiers and skaters are separated in the Achensee region. To ensure that you can find the perfect track, there is a sophisticated guidance system, handy cross-country ski trail maps, an interactive tour planner with detailed routes for all cross-country ski trails, as well as an online weather and cross-country ski trail information service.
Lake Achensee is also the cradle of professional cross-country skiing lessons. Gustav Leithner, founder of the Pertisau Ski School, wrote the first official curriculum for professional cross-country skiing lessons at the end of the 1970s, which still serves as the basis for training to become a cross-country ski instructor today.
